Brothers of the Desert hosts a quarterly speaker series on a variety of relevant topics that interest and impact our community. This program came out of an expressed need to continue to offer educational and emotional support that stemmed from feedback from our annual wellness summits and through our membership meetings.
The Speaker's series features a respected thought leader and provides opportunities to interact with the participants, engage in discussions and offer questions to the presenters. Topics have included, practicing mindfulness, responding to systemic racism, acknowledging micro aggressions, and mental health and wellness for Black Queer communities. Speakers have included, mindfulness teacher Christopher Burton, filmmaker Nathan Hale-Williams, author Lorenzo Taylor, and CEO of the Black Emotional and Mental Health Collective, Yolo Akili Robinson and most recently Dr. Leo Moore, the Medical Director for Clinic Services at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health on preventing chronic conditions and a COVID-19 update.
